Staff bbq

So this kid found out that the NEW oculus is coming out mid-October and it’s BETTER and it’s also CHEAPER than what he paid for his oculus only back in July. One of his remotes got a crack in it too... so he quickly listed it for $450 - and sold it for just under $400, which is what a new one costs when it drops next month!!

Here is Isaac gracing his auntie with a song ....

We wanted to give the staff a chance to ask questions about what they saw at the town hall meeting with the board a few weeks ago ... so we decided to have a de-brief staff bbq down in Victoria.

Here is Chris giving them a bit of a history lesson on Imadene and insight on all the variety of people who love the camp.

Downstairs took about an hour and a half, meanwhile Elliot enjoying being master of the entire rest of the house for the whole evening. Lol

On our way home, we stopped at the crosswalk for these rule abiding deer.

And the next am, this beauty was desecrating my apple tree.

Quite the Wild West around here these days ....

No School ...

Beautiful day ...soaking up some sun while it's out ....

This kid is always wanting more practice ... he's a pretty good driving ... he doesn't get mad at me much anymore when I talk to him while he is driving and trying to concentrate ...

Saw my favorite Peru sweater in a window of a downtown store !!  And guess what? Sister sent me back hers!  So, I will put away for when I trash my grey one, and I will have a pretty much new one waiting in the wings!!

While I was at a massage, these guys all hung out - lunch, thrifting and general shenanigans ....

Once home, Elliot made some watermelon candy ...

Couple of shots from a kid who does photography and video came in to me yesterday. Thought these ones were cute.

In all her glory…

In other news, Isaac happily ordered us food on our way to youth. He’s a very good driver.

He, for the first time ever, asked for some new clothes for school.  He chose the white high top converse.  So cool.

Jolene came over after work ... Smokey skies ...

Elliot and I drove her home ...

Elliots nightly torture, I mean cuddle, with mittens ...

She tolerates him.

Outside Jaws night.  I’ve never seen the whole show.

Kick off for youth!!

Both boys hit up youth tonight (Jr high and Sr high).  Elliot wasn’t a huge fan as he didn’t know anyone and it was dodgeball outside, so he was being hit and when he’d hit someone, they would often not go out (cheaters have driven him crazy since he was a toddler playing camp games - so it’s no different now.). It was also raining, so he was soaked and sweating with no friends .... so we’ll try one more time next week and see how he does.

Isaac was happy with all parts of the evening. Especially being reunited with his buddy Ben who was at qwanoes and Homewood for the last 2 months ....

Sweet Elliot .... love him.

Happy 22nd Anniversary!!

Today we have been married for 22 years .....

We celebrated with a bunch of WOA campers ....
Behind me they are all using power tools, building and creating stuff in their last few hours with us.

This Covid side hustle has been pretty fun ....

Final day of WOA 2

Final day .... my writing isn’t as pretty as Lisa’s ... but we had chapel and patio crafts and water skiing and hikes (though the smoke made it hard to breath)

These were the WOA staff team who cleaned and did dishes and when it was over, they played very hard together!!  So proud of them ... and they are excited for the next WOA, so that makes it really easy for me!!

Chapel was a YouTube sermon I found, well that one of the campers found just before breakfast on Sunday morning.   I was struggling and struggling to find something that was relevant but not too churchy and right at the last moment a camper suggested this one.   It was good!  30 minutes and turned out his verse was used the night before with a couple of women who were having some counseling - so I kind of love when I get to see connections ....

Tireless kitchen staff making the famous Glory bowls for the final lunch!!!

And then it was finally over .... man, it was a long weekend.

At one point on our way to town for our “anniversary dinner”, all 3 were happily whistling ..... isn’t that fun?

Grade 11 - during Covid 2020

Off he went!!

And just for good measure, here are Jack and Ellie’s first day too!!!

WOA #2 starting and a very well placed name tag sticker saves Shannon’s shirt!!!

And here we go!   These retreats are so much easier with these two beside me.

Also - he was a little too excited to get in there and shoot the campers. But apparently he offered himself up to be the animal for them to hunt.  So everyone won lol
