Shots I missed from our weekend!!

These are from my camera, but meg and I "earned our food" on sunday while the boys were out quading!!  We bmx'd while the boys ran the track:
Isaac crashed his bike last year pretty good on one of the jumps last year and since
then, will only run the track....its sad because he was getting good!
Elliot LOVES his new sweater vest!!
I went to grab some groceries for lunch and came back to these 2 playing cards!
We squeezed alot into a few hours....didn't we?

Brett and Megan take over this weekend!!!

We love these two.....they are fun, happy and super easy to have around.
The boys think they are great too--especially after they came armed with smarties for them!
After the boys went quading and cut a quad trail, meg and i made an amazing lunch!!  It was literally a PILE of quesadillas that I can't believe actually all got finished off!
What better after lunch than a game of Blokus!!
Meg, the rookie, totally school me.
I told her i wasn't used to playing with such vengeful players!  The peeps around here are much kinder!  She didn't seem to care as she threw out her evil laugh.......
We like Kevin.....even if he does wear toques in the summer!
I'm not sure what Isaac thinks of Kevin though......
 Sweet shot of Brett......
My favorite spot ever: Front of the boat, wrapped in a blanket with my little boy!
Brett is a beast on the wakeboard!
 Kevin and Isaac watching
Rookie turned pro in 10 minutes.....
 Brett and Megan:
the door is always open and a bed will always be waiting
as will I with an iced tea in my hand for you as we sit to a game of blokus on the patio swing!
 Come back soon!

Isaacs First Piano Recital

It happened to fall on the day of Open House, but the time was early enough not to conflict before it started thankfully...so Chris made the effort to get away to watch Isaac play in his first recital.

Malea, his teacher, has these recitals at a retirement home, and the older people love to come out and watch the young kids play....so Isaac had quite the audience!  I was expecting him to be more nervous than he was.....but he just got up there, and did what he came for!!!
He played Star Wars and Yankee Doodle Dandy....and rocked it!!!
No mistakes, good tempo....we were all very proud!!
Even Evan!  Who came out to support his little buddy!

Marg also came out to watch Isaac...but for some reason, i didn't get a picture of her.....but she is always there for the grandkids when there is something of importance to be supported!!
Jinny was there too!!
Malea is Jinny's daughter......so she and i sat there each being proud of our children!
Open House was fun.....my friend Tanya came out for the day with Spencer, so we filled our time with Archery and hanging out with the kids....that evening, Brett and Meg stayed overnight....that will be the next post because we had too much fun to squeeze into this post!!  It deserves its own!!

But Isaac was a real pro.....mom and dad....you would be proud to see what your grandson did at the piano....wish you lived closer!!  But i got it on video and will show it to you next week when you come!!

Elliot graduates Preschool!!

Elliot is all done preschool!  I wouldn't say that he loved going to preschool, but he would ask where he was going, i would say preschool, and he would say ok.

Thats about it....he would never really tell me any details afterwards....even when he had visits from the firetrucks AND the policemen who came to show the kids the vehicles!!

But here he is, in all his graduation glory!!
I figured every kid needed oversized shades and a purple balloon on grad day!!

Overnight fun with Jinny!!!

I love Jinny....i will just start with that.

I have known Jinny for 10 years and have loved her from the moment I met her.....she loves every member of my family and has a special relationship with each one of us.

I had a chance to get away for staff fun day on tuesday and Jinny offered to take both boys so i could go!

When i got back from staff night, the boys were almost ready for bed-snack and all!!  All i had to do was tuck them into their bed after she read them stories:
The morning was beautiful, we had breakfast on her patio.
After breakfast but before school....Isaac was up to his negotiating skills!!
He got Jinny to play a game of badminton in her housecoat!!
And Elliot got in a ride before preschool started!!
These boys, especially Elliot, are so happy at Jinny's house.  She and Elliot talk and play and eat.....he loves going there....especially when he get her all to himself!
Thank you Jinny.......you are a very special woman and
i am so blessed to have you as a friend.

Uninspired....but still blessed and quietly content.

Yup...thats me lately....especially on the blog-front!
Perhaps its the switch from 'spring to summer' with summer continuing to hide behind the clouds and peek out only once in awhile to remind me how wonderful it is, only to be clouded over momentarily....its depressing.
Perhaps its watching my husband with his endless tasks that need to be completed before summer officially starts around here....watching him race around, being productive and needed everywhere
Perhaps its just the end of the official school year, and I am tired......
Perhaps I am just lonely for my best friend........funny how we can be on the same property, but he is miles away.

or perhaps I am just being a total suck.......because, lets be honest...what do i have to complain about?  Nothing!!!  I just miss him.

But on a happier note, we had a great time on tuesday on our Staff Fun Day away to saltspring...here are a few shots of the traveling companions!!

Happy Fathers Day!!

To my dad and the dad of my kids!

I couldn't ask for better, in either departments!

The dad of my kids loves my boys....plays with them....listens to their long stories....tucks them into bed.....takes them on adventures and to Tim Hortons!!  People always told me while we were dating, that chris was going to be the best dad.....and they were right.  Nothing makes a woman happier than seeing her man love her kids.....and I am a happy woman.
As I have grown into an adult, my dad has become one of my closest friends.  As a kid, he worked hard and thus wasn't around a ton during the year, but he and my mom always made sure they had the summers off to spend with Carrie and I.  I have such great memories of time spent on the boat, at the cabin, on the water....they sent us to a variety of camps for different experiences.  And all these have played a major role in the woman I am today.  I love camp, I love being outside...I am comfortable in many different environments....all because my dad worked hard to let us have those experiences.
I have this picture as my facebook profile picture and someone asked where I took my dad.....like I was about to take off and take him flying.......I said "we were off to Neverland since my dad had never been there"....to which the response was "I hope he finds his marbles".........

Happy Fathers Day....I love you both very very much!

New Backyard Toy!!

Nope, its not a trampoline...if thats what you intially thought!  I figured that is what you thought since we had been going back and forth over the idea of getting a trampoline!  But since isaac said that his neck hurt when he jumped on his cousins trampoline....that was it for us and made the final decision pretty easy!

Another decision that was pretty easy was to get an outdoor fire pit!!  After some make-shift firepit fun last night:

Here is Chris listening intently to a riveting story told by Elliot.
After last nights fun with the 'fire on the board'....we bought a fire dome and i love it!!
Nic and her girls came over this evening....we sat around the fire and roasted marshmallows and chatted (that is, when we didn't have to get up and chase......)  I wish i had taken the camera out....we had a nice time (even being grumpy and ugly...right nic?)

We played dance central at the end of the visit....i need to get my own copy!!  Need to get those dance moves down!

Anyways...off to bed.....

Perks of living here.....

There are many, but i will do todays 'Top 3'

#1~When your husband has a ton of fun limbing all the trees around your house and you are left with a pile of trees that are now on the ground, wonderful people named Mitch and Sarah, who come with a truck and help you clear those piles away when it would have taken you days on your own!!!

#2~When your husband decides that tonight is the night HE wants to go caving with his buddies, when he knows its the night that I want to go to jazzercise with the girls...and a great guy, again, named Mitch {yup, same guy from #1}, offers to chill with the children tonight so we both can go out!!

#3~The final perk of the day of living here, is there is always at least a few fun loving girls who are up for any fun you can throw their way INCLUDING Jazzercise!!!
Yup....there was alot of fun that was had tonight.......big perk.  and i like perks!!
