Smart kitty.... Lucky kitty.

So the other day, I had this brilliant plan to shut the kitchen door to the mud room, but leave cat door to the outside open for mia to come and go as she wanted but it would keep her out of the main house as to not wake us up in the morning!  However,at 2:30 in the morning I hear her parading up and down our hallway meowing so loud and I couldn't figure out how she could possibly have gotten into our house. Well, turns out I found the one opening into our house. The attic window, up there:
I took the window out to fix because it turns out it crashed in a wind storm and left a shard of deadly glass pointing up;
Can you see the pointy glass? It has Mia hair on it!!  She's lucky she didn't impale herself!!
Those eyes say a lot but if that mouth could talk ...

Day with Aisha ...

Aisha is my new friend from down the road who gave us Mia. She thought she'd be a perfect cat for us and for 20 out of the 24 hours, she is!!

Anyways, Aisha came and chilled out with us for most of the day. She is easy company and brought a book. So between the gazebo, the dock, and the hammocks on the beach, we had a nice relaxing day with the boys.

She is introducing me to so many things. She grew up on a farm with hippy, gipsy parents!!  So she tells me all about cleanses, gardening, clean eating and she loves real estate and finding deals! So, we have a ton to talk about. Tonight she brought over some "patty pan squash" from her garden and we made homemade basil pesto with the Vitamix!! So she helped set me up for dinner and left ;-)
I couldn't get enough!! So good!!

Floating and HRM wrap up party!

So I tried this place out on Wednesday after work. I wasn't sure if it was a good day to try it because of all the things scheduled in my day already. Would I be able to relax enough to get the full effect of a 'float'?
This is a picture of the float room. The black is the tub. And beside the tub was a waterproof remote for the light, so in usual float capsules, it's dark immediately  which I think would freak me out?  But as I floated in 1000 pounds of Epsom salts, I kept it lit until I felt comfortable enough to turn it off.  An hour passed very quickly. I couldn't tell when my eyes were open or closed and I couldn't tell where the water began and my skin ended, it was quite enjoyable and I think I may have even slept a bit.
I knew it was over by the soft voice saying "welcome back Sharon" and I was to prepare to get out. It was a nice sensation. I felt as though I had had a full body massage after it was over. I felt very zen and calm.  They also have a little room to relax in and get ready to hit the real world .... A desk with a colouring book, journal and books. A couch to sit on and tea or water nearby.
Had I had more time, I would have stayed a little longer ...
But there were stair intervals to do with my 'healthy role model' gang!!  We all completed the 12 weeks together and decided on this date to have a wrap up party- beginning the party with 30 intervals of stairs in a beautiful forest. 30 degrees didn't feel so bad in the shade.  For a girl who does 12 reps, 30 was ludacris!! I did 22 .... Crazy weirdos.... Who does 30 reps??  The program said 12, so I have been doing 12... And 12 is hard! 30 was nuts.... But I cheered on the nuts.
We all brought salad stuff ....
So salad and sangrias!!!!
It was a beautiful night with a group of very interesting women. We spoke of our jobs and it's challenges, how we find balance, and we decided as a group that we will do the 12 weeks all again in the fall!!  It was just a thoroughly enjoyable day.
It's 3 days later and my legs are pretty sore still.

Finally summer is here.

Zalinkos are on their summer road trip,so we've had full access to the dock ... Which has only been nice these last few days since the first two weeks were grey and rainy!
We're pretty happy about this weather!!
Summer has begun!!

Mia...

Meet Mia .....
She is warming her way into our hearts even though these first two weeks have been quite sleepless as she starts to meow in the middle of the night for no reason!!!
She is so mellow and sleeps for much of the day .... And loves to sleep on our bed with us which is sweet until the 4am meowing!!
After a talk about figuring out this major issue with my mom, she suggested when Mia comes in meowing, to pick her up nicely and pat her all the way down the hall to the dogs room and to give her what you think she's asking for: to be put into her crate.  So we are on day two now of some really nice sleeps. She may still be meowing but we can't hear her!
She walked with me to the garbage tonight. I really like her. Super independent. Doesn't need anything from me .... She cuddles up to sleep on Isaac bed which I find quite endearing .... We really have to work on the morning meowing so I hope we've found a solution because you know what else isn't good for cats? Homelessness.
