Departure Day!!

I love that they have the same problem as us - our problem move is bunny ears in every picture, and theirs is shirt raises .... always someone will wreck a nice picture ...

And only the mom will chew them out ... lol

There are the bunny ears ....

Hot Tub is FULL!!!

Ride back to the car ...

This was a huge job...but with 10 peoples hands ... it was actually pretty fun ...

SO much junk!!!

10 minutes after getting into the car ....

Following them to the dump in Port Alberni .... it cost $73 to dump it all!!  According to them "1 load down, 9 more to go" .... that lodge is so beautiful, and quite tired, but the bones are strong and solid and it won't take long to get it up to amazing ....

Wood Cutters ....

While Chris was flying the drone around, he flew over these boys who were cutting wood ....

But then suddenly, they heard the drone!!! (eye roll)

Saturday Afternoon at the Lodge ...

Caught Elliot sleeping this afternoon ... his response later was that he was so bored, there was nothing else to do ;-)

Drone shots !!!

After dinner, though everyone was so tired .. Chris encouraged everyone to grab a kayak, leave the kids behind, and head out ....

Man, it was beautiful ....

The sun disappeared quickly ... the moon came out ... it was gorgeous out ... I can see why people want to explore these broken islands .....

Our first and only selfie together ....

Almost back ... moon is out ....

Once back, we discovered the kids all playing hide and seek in the lodge!!  Everyone had flashlights and they were finding very creative spots to hide!!

Elliot dancing while brushing his teeth tonight in our room (yes, each room has its own sink!) ... he had a room to himself while everyone else paired up ...he was pretty thrilled for his own space ....

Saturday at the Lodge ...

The new owners and their 2 year round workers needed to have a meeting after breakfast, so Chris and I went with the rest of the kids to explore .. we found this little miners cabin ...

Photographer at it again .....

The adults were still talking, so the kids started a game, I read a book, and Chris went outside to take some drone shots of the lodge....

After lunch, alot of the guys tore this dock apart ... it's been an eye sore for years .... so they stripped all the wood and then they were going to drag out the metal floats ....

This is the day lodge ... where people who aren't staying at the lodge can rent kayaks and canoes ....

Here is the main dock ... we took some kayaks out so Chris could get some pictures for their website ... here we just finished yelling "You own ALL THESE KAYAKS!!!" ... it's been fun yelling things like that all weekend ....

Heading out with Shannon and her beautiful daughter Danica .....

Note the eagle!

Chris's final edit of one of our pictures .... it is my screen saver right now and I find myself just wishing myself back there .....

Staying in our Health Region ... but first road trip in over a year!!

After their bachelor party last night ....Ben and Isaac were brought back into town by the Williams as we were caravanning to Port Alberni together ... I guess they were getting a bit 'much' for the Williams because I got a text from Shannon saying she left them BOTH on the side of the road waiting for us ...lol.

Turns out they were hungry and tired from last night .... so they pretty much ate our lunch by 9am and crashed for most of the ride ....

The lodge has a boat called the "CARRY 'EM" .... it picked us up and we loaded luggage and a whole pile of wood that Phil had milled this past week ... so it was all hand bombed onto the boat ... pretty thankful for lots of strong teenagers ....

It's a 20 minute boat ride to the Broken Islands Lodge ....

We arrive!  The first view of the place - we were seeing it for the first time along with some of their kids ... it was an exciting weekend  -- new owners!!

As we approached the lodge, this little bear met us on the beach!!  And as we disembarked, it ran along the back of the lodge where we ran down the hallway to see him closer ....

Such an exciting welcome!!

Lunch was waiting for us, and afterwards we went for a hike out to the dam ... the lodge is run by hydro-electricity during the winter when the water is high...the trees around here are amazing!!  So big and wild and easy to climb!!

With chainsaws in hand, we walked the men out to the dam where a couple trees had fallen over the dam and have been threatening to fall into the dam and stop the power that goes to the lodge ... so the FIRST project of these new owners, was taking care of this huge worry that was weighing on the current workers .....

Elliot emerged this weekend as the resident photographer ... here he is photographing a toad that Josh is holding ...

After dinner, Gord (year round worker), starts the fire, and leads singing ... it seems to be what he lives for, and hasn't had guests in over a year!  It was like summer camp for adults!!

Ben and Isaac did a couple songs together too .... it was a fun night ....

Bachelor Party for James .... Burning Piano ....

His friend is getting married on Saturday.  I was sent this picture at 1am so it looks like they’re having a pretty good time!

Shannon had been trying to get ride of this old upright for awhile, so 4 teenagers later ... they lowered it down their mountain down to the beach!!!  Ropes and brute strength ... and the piano was on the beach.

New chairs from Tracy

My old boss from the station was giving away some Adirondack chairs today.  I snagged them and they’ll work this summer.
