Nitinat - the first week ....

This was the moment ... a core memory of sitting on the most disgusting carpet ... looking out these huge single pane windows ... watching Tony burn out of the driveway without even a word to us other than "keys are on the counter" .... we were left wondering what we had done.

I still feel a little nauseous when I look at this picture ... so many emotions ....

The red trim ... ugh ... the nasty carpet ....

That is sponge painted plywood walls ... and pretty sure original carpet ...

Carpet that is so disgusting ....

Oh the pink carpet and the yellow walls ....
Original orange carpet ... the smell in this house was awful ...

My sweet dad ... pushing a huge cart of flooring through Home Depot ... carpets were all ripped out in a morning by Marie and Zachary ... those 2 were gold!  They did it so fast! (Nobody in my family were willing or allowed to touch such nasty carpet...we were happy to pay workers - and they were so fast!)

She completed the flooring in days ... super fast.

Moms project was removing the old blinds .... very helpful as they probably contributed to the smell ...

She is also our happy gardener!!!

Couple of gals ... armed with oven cleaner and a scrub brush ...

Meanwhile back at camp ... Chris is moving forward with new staff dining area ...

Nellie came for a visit and we did a dump run  ... (my favorite)

And she helped me clean the kitchen!

Jolene and I prepping what to do with stairs ...

The stairs at Nitinat were a tough problem ... Carrie and dad tried to figure out how to best cover them ... they were difficult with the extra lip, in the end we painted and bought a runner ..

Furnace is working!!!

Turns out she is a beast with a staple gun .. no fear ...

We did it!!  If i had my time back, I would have put the runner on the day before tenants moved in so they were clean and lovely!!  Over all the renovations, they have gotten dirty ... but alas ...

Berar and all the hands ….

It’s middle of June now and tenants have just moved in this weekend!!!  So many hands to make this little house a cozy home for a sweet family.

It was a scary beginning as our painters found a lot of rot!!

Dad turned 70!!!  We had a party for him on the other side of the duplex as there is more room to road over there ....

Quite the bonfire!!

Mom gets a real kick out of seeing how people blow out their candles!!

Dad did alot of thinking this week ... he is kind of the king of decks as he's built so many...Carrie and I were nervous .... it was alot of wood and it poured!!!

The stairs were so rough, I thought we were just going to used the stairs as a base for wooden steps, but dad saw something we didn't, so he designed something proper ...

We couldn't see what he was seeing ....

It looks like a small kitchen ... but there was so much painting!!

Mike and Isaac attacking the front door!  It needed so much help!!

Here is Susan ....helping with the painting ..

Here is mom, in her happy place, but so much rain!! She removed and transplanted things - she made the yard look amazing!!!

So much cupboard painting!!

It was really fun following Mike through the various aisles ....

A&W morning coffees ... and deck building ....

So rainy!!

Here is Paul helping to fix the sunroom ...

Carrie's thought on how to fix the back wall ... it looks so good!!

Trent came one morning to help me re-install the sink .... the best part of the whole things has been everyones hands ...

Sandi came to stage the house and the yard for pictures and for tenants to walk through ....

My sister and I ....
