Hiatus?

This sunshine must affect me more than i give it credit for....but i can honestly say that i am blissfully happy today now that the sun is shining, Isaac is playing with Aunt Jenny today at the forest museum and Elliot is sleeping....life is good. I haven't been motivated much to blog now that i have discovered facebook....but for all ya'll who have been checking this site and emailing me 'words'.....here are some gorgeous shots of Isaac and Elliot taken by our friend Mike as a birthday present for Elliots first birthday. I am currently organizing all the pics i love to get them blown up and framed.

I hope the summer is treating everyone well....our summer is almost over and we are getting ready for some big changes. One being a new family moving in next door -- Anyone remember Becky Bates from our qwanoes days? She is due any day with her 3rd child -- her husband got the position as chris's assistant this year...so they are moving in this next week which will be really different for us not only sharing the property, but sharing it with a bigger family than our own! Will keep you posted on that one.......we are also getting ready for isaac to start 'playschool' 2 mornings a week starting in the fall plus a holiday in kelowna for 10 days in september. SO-again--life is pretty awesome right now. And i am pretty stoked for swedish meatballs tonight that i don't have to cook or clean up from...sigh--camp life!!

The Quest for Jelly Beans

***********************************************

C: "Isaac, do you feel sick?"

I: "Yea, i do....in my tummy"

C: "Think you want to throw up?"

I: "Yea...."

C: "Ok, just hold on...i'll get you a bowl"...comes back with a bowl.."Ok, make sure if you throw up, do it in the bowl"

I: Looking up at daddy: "Daddy, if i throw up IN the bowl, can i get a jellybean?"

Big Day

Two big things happened today with Isaac -- The first big things was that he got his red band on the waterfront!! So now he is allowed to officially ride in the boats and go behind them (he asked today if he could wakeboard....hmm--maybe next summer eh?) To get his red band he had to show Maren that he could jump off the dock on his own wearing a life jacket - and he DID IT! So he and I had a fun tube ride together - it was awesome to just play on the water with him!

I just peeked in on him as he is sleeping now and his arms are raised up like in "victory" with that red band around his little wrist - i am pretty proud of my little swimmer.

The second cool thing today is that our little dolphin fell asleep wihout a soother nor did he ask for it prior to bed.....such a great little guy.

Elliot is boogieing around in his new found mobility - and he is fast!! And incredibly happy to get around where he wants...he will crawl to a place where he knows he shouldn't go - like towards the dogs room (where there is little pieces of dog food) and he will stop mid-way and turn around to make sure you are watching and then he will laugh like crazy - its hilarious - he makes us giggle all day. Lucky! Lucky!

Trish got hitched!!

Insert song "At Laaast.....my looove has come along...." you know the rest!

It was a gorgeous day and trish sure looked beautiful. Here are a couple shots from last night - the day wooshed by (except the dinner, the dinner dragged on for me as i was one big stress case since both boys were being NO fun for us) - but things calmed down when dancing started...and yup! We all danced! Even Chris!

Day at the Forest Museum

So-though my second last post was all whiney about missing Chris, tommorow is his day off, so he technically has tonight starting at dinner off---so we are looking forward to some good family time - but i got a jump start on a favorite spot heading to the forest museum today - so here are some pics - it wiped us all out -- good day....oop-the dinner bell is about to ring, so we need to head down - enjoy the pics! I love that the sun has come back out!!

Home Sweet Home

Its great to be home - but this weather has me climbing the walls!! Its been a good week though and its gone fast! Wednesday was fun for me and the boys - Amanda came over with baby Dylan on wed. morning and it was good to catch up with her since she has been busy with the baby and the clouds are finally starting to lift - hence, her coming to visit. That afternoon, Christie and Julianna came over and we all went to the beach - where we learned first hand how a life jacket works when Isaac waded right in and the life jacket started to make him float when he got in too far - yup, his head stayed up. But today was a nice stay-at-home day and we puddle jumped, watched movies, hung out...chris and isaac went to chemainus to get the camp boat and Ami and I went to Aroma's for dinner (with Elliot) before the torrential downpour run to the grocery store across the street - wrapped elliot in a garbage bag to keep him dry - that was funny in itself! I haven't seen rain like that since cancun!

But Camp starts tommorow and the making of a camp widow is underway - i have already started the process of feeling like i am in the backseat when it comes to chris and his life and the demands of camp and i have to say, i am not feeling as supportive as i normally do - maybe the addition of the second baby since i was mad last summer too. It's not mad, per se, its a sort of pouting, havne't resigned to the loss yet. He leaves in the morning, wolfs food at 12:30 before he is back out and then home at 5ish and often back out soon after the kids are in bed - and camp hasn't even started! So, i am struggling with feeling supportive right now. He is not my favorite person right now, and he sees that and says he is also just coping and trying to survive all the demands. i know he'd rather be home with us, but i am still fighing the fact that i am about to lose him for the next few months....yes, we will get meals as i hate to cook these days - i actually loath the process (hence me getting up with isaac in the middle of the night to give him yogurt because he didn't eat enough during the day). So -there - we are all caught up now - i should get back to bed before i am called out again to feed someone!

Brians Party

Chris has been working like a dog the whole time we were away - his basic work day was 8am until 11pm..he even worked through ball hockey on thursday which i think is a big deal since he was working in the gym where they were playing! (poor guy) - So, needless to say, he was pretty excited to get away to the mainland for Brians party - though we were only at the party for 4 hours - it was totally worth it! So - here is a night where we got together with old friends from our Qwanoes days when chris and i first started dating back in '96. We all got re-connected through face book and a party was born!!! And brian and helen and their new baby Maya were the 'reason' for the party - couldn't have asked for better reasons! We all seemed to fall back into step, we were all just a little older, some with a little less hair, and many with a few more babies! It was pretty great - too bad we had to leave early, but it was so nice just to see everyones faces.

Road Trip Re-Cap

It was a great week! Starting with an overnight with a fellow nursing mom (we had a 5am visit together with our 'babes'). Kari looks pretty happy with her new life at camp Squeah..she has a gorgeous place for a camp house!

Isaac is a natural born swimmer - i couldn't be prouder! He swam alone and seemed to love it-however, he jumped in for the first time from the deep end on his own and went all the way under water - once he came up, he came up looking a little stunned-looked at me and said 'hmm--i won't do THAT again'....

Ice cream break - flippers need not be removed, even on trampoline

Elliot and mom in the typical stance through the whole visit.....so sweet.

ROAD TRIP!

And we are off......me and my boys are hitting the open road tommorow on a spontaneous road trip to the Okanagan! Chris and I are planning to go to a party for some old friends of ours on saturday on the mainland - so, since we had an open itinerary until Sat and we have to pay for a ferry both ways anyways.....why not??

The plan is to hang out with our friend Kari in Hope tommorow night and then continue on our way thursday morning.....so ---here is to a safe trip and yay for portable dvd players!!

Busy Week......

Its been a busy, for the most part, wonderful week full of great visits. An exciting part of our week was introducing Isaac and Elliot to my very best friend from high school! I found her on facebook and it turns out she lives on Gabriola Island!! So, after a few emails and phonecalls, Kim came over yesturday for the day....it had been 10 years and she looks just the same and we picked up where we left off. I knew she was still cool when Isaac invited her to play toys in his room and shut the door behind her so she couldn't leave.

Karen and Christy last night laughing over how huge the baby kicks Christy's belly out - i could see from across the room!! Christy made a great meal (well, she inlisted Mike to make dinner while we all sat around - i officially didn't really move from my seat from 6 until 10!

Part of our life....

Part of our life is finding exciting things for our toddler to do! He loves adventures and Chris is the best in finding amazing things that he loved as a boy to do with Isaac...the latest being a rocket launch tonight on the main field. Chris and Isaac also took in the train at the forest museum yesturday to give me a litle break to hang out with my friends at baby group and not have to be jumping up every few minutes to deal with isaac - it was pretty blissful!

3...2...1...BLAST OFF!!

Me and Budgie

Elliots favorite thing right now is this empty tube of crest....hilarious.

Big Questions......

The last few days, Elliot has preferred to eat with the rest of us and has not much interest in nursing. Are we almost finished? Is he weaning me?? Makes me so sad!! So the big question - which i guess seems obvious -- is it better for baby to wean off you or continue encouraging nursing and then run into trouble when you want to be finished - but baby is in a routine? He doesn't nurse much during the day...but lately i have been finding he wakes at midnight, 4 and 7am....which is fine by me-i actually enjoy it--but i am confused to what his needs are at this point in time!!

My second question to put out there is this: Are any of you "croc" wearers totally wrecked for wearing any other 'fun' summer sandles because nothing is as comfy as those ugly crocs??? Those are my thoughts tonight.....off to bed now! I have noticed a downturn in comments-so if you are reading this-please comment--it encourages me to keep writing! xox

Another Day in Paradise...

Our friends Rachel, Kelly and their little girl Grace came to visit today - isaac said he was 'sad' when Grace went home.

Big 3rd Birthday

It was a great day - A "Drop in to Play" day for Isaac so that friends could drop in at their leisure around nap times and work schedules and it worked really well. This lucky toddler got lots of great gifts, ate cake, played in his new sandbox and had a tractor ride - it was a good day. Happy Birthday big guy!

Already......

3 tommorow....so hard to believe...still one crazy guy!!!

Beautiful Weekend

A shot from our "front yard" the other night....it was so gorgeous, even though i live here, i sometimes can't believe we live here!!

Facebook has brought me back into touch with some very great old friends - one being Melissa - we were friends over 6 years ago in the land of Qwanoes and she has come back to Qwanoes as asst. head counselor this year - so we played today and she stayed overnight.

Friday already???

I can't believe how fast lift goes! I know! I know! People always say that - but seriously!! Just a minute ago, i was having baby #1, and on tuesday, i am supposed to be planning his 3rd birthday! Arg! Does anyone think its wrong of me not to want to have a party? i am tired just thinking about it - what if i just buy him a really big present to make up for it?? Will that be enough? The little voice in my head says nope....oh well, we'll do something fun with friends, include a cake and i will try to make it as easy as possible (on me anyways---cause that kid has a party anywhere he goes)

I've included a pic of an 'aftershot' of me trying to kick Robs butt in tetherball last week and in the midst of battle, those dumb crocs of mine did a big slip in a huge mud puddle and i landed on my back!! yup--right on my back! I only posted 1 shot since the other one included some major crack and who wants to see that? ;-) The weird thing was, i discovered that chivalry is dead, for both men involved (my husband and cristins husband) both stood there laughing (along with me AND at me.....), and it wasn't until i asked Rob to help me up, the biggest concern of my husbands was looking for the camera!!! hmph....i'll tell you, i thought it was sortof funny, but was a little offended in the back of my mind, that the result of his actions (or lack of) has resulted in him NOT getting much action since that day! i don't think it really matters that he had Elliot in the carrier....details, details....

The sun is shining and we are heading out to play!
