Mother’s Day 2018

It was a beautiful morning on this Mothers Day morning .....

Chris was busy this morning prepping the boat, picking up groceries for lunch and dinner and he bought me two beautiful plants for the deck!  So, here we are, in the boat - new carpet, newly stained trim, I love this boat .... but here we are getting gas at our first stop, and Isaac is already rooting through the cooler for food ....

We were laughing at this decrepit floating home that makes its way around the lake to different spots ... we found it and the boys explored inside .... it was pretty gross inside too ....I stayed in the boat.

Aren't they adorable?

First swim of the season - this was Spring Beach.

Second stop -- we stayed here for a nap and dinner ....

Isaac made a great fire (Thanks WildSide Training) ... Chris took a nap and Elliot read Calvin and Hobbes ....

.... and then here is me ....

Chris made such a great dinner -

The boys kept asking if it was the best mothers day  ... and honestly, being their mom is the best ....

Little floor sleeper ....

If he doesn’t fall asleep before Isaac, he feels pretty lonely falling asleep alone so he drags his bedding beside mine and falls asleep.  The domino effect of this is mittens on our bed - heaven help that cat if she ever slept on the floor with Elliot - but he’s lovely to sleep with - quiet and cute and cozy in his onesie.  Nice Mother’s Day to wake up to ...

Chris's 44th Birthday and celebrating Mothers Day at the In Laws ....

The boys picked me up in Sidney once I got back from the states .... we hit up a few thrift stores as Sidney is developing quite the reputation as a little Thirft Mecca!  Here is Elliot pretty excited for his camera find .... the ladies found it was cute that he was paying while his folks stood behind him.

Elliot has been wanting to go to the Ocean Discovery Centre for awhile now, so I snagged a couple Groupons and we headed there after lunch .....

Oh right, my thift find!!  These are pretty pricey, so I was excited to get one of my own and only pay $8!

We headed to Marg and Gordons mid-afternoon for a BBQ .... we celebrated Mothers Day and Chris's birthday.  Here is Wren quizzing all the adults in the room with some bible trivia cards she and Isaac found in the games closest ... surprisingly, it was Trent and Marg who came out on top. lol

A typical scene after dinner ... Gordon puttering in the kitchen, feeding Maisy scraps, and probably re-loading the dishwasher that I tried to load in order to help (Chris kept telling me to stop....but it's a lot to clean up!)  I have a new appreciation for my father in law after overhearing someone talking on the ferry this past weekend about how lovely this womans father in law was, always sweet, always having good things to say, and I thought 'Yup, I have one of those too!'

Speaking of sweet .... look at my un-assuming husband, just sitting amongst everyone, reading on his own, piping in with his bible knowledge when a question came up that he knew ... he really doesn't engage in group activities .... and maybe that's ok?  Jury is out on that one because I think that even if we aren't talking about something that directly interests you, you should still participate if you are in the group and not glaze over or leave ... but it was his birthday, so today my sweet husband could do no wrong.

Not too sure why Isaac felt the need to hide in a corner to eat cheesecake ... Bosun didn't understand either ....

Wren enjoyed filming the difficulty her cousin was having with the dog ....

Glare ..... "Let me eat in peace!!"

LOL .....

Mothers Day and Chris's Birthday .... he was born on Mothers Day ...

Just a quick trip to the washroom before the long ride home and this freaked me out because you can't see over the lid until your hand is already almost on the button!  Someone put a fake mouse there!!!  I suspect my eldest .... well played hey?

Over a decade of opening and closing this gate to grandma and grandpa's .....

41 hours away with Susan .....

It was a beautiful morning to sail over on the Washington State Ferry ....

Susan planned a really nice simple dinner of soup and bread with Eli and Emily ... it is always so relaxing with this crew ... here we are after dinner ... most of us had somehow switched seats and just kept chatting ....

I wish Chris would take a page from this family's book ... once eating is done, there is no need to rush off to the next thing.  Look how relaxed everyone is?  Just enjoying each others company ....

Even at the doorway they stood around chatting .... no rush to leave .... even though she must be exhausted!  Doesn't she look great!!  This is 32 weeks!!

Buddy and I had breakfast together .... such a finicky bird but came in for a landing once he saw I had an orange ....

Susan arranged a Spa Day for us ... her timing was perfect!  I was tired, sick and my toes needed some work done in order to be ready for summer!!  We went early to enjoy the robes and the steam room before our pedicures ... it was nice ...

All relaxed and pampered....

We laughed at her polish -- she loves getting polish that will grow out nice, but this was pretty sheer, like there was no polish at all ... so, it will grow out well!

Walk down to the water ....

Soup, Salad, breadsticks!! Not a US getaway trip without lunch at this place ....we hit up Trader Joes and stocked up on some fun things ...

Turns out there was a suicide jumper on one of the overpasses on our route home, so enstead of waiting in traffic, we explored downtown a little bit - here we are hunting down "Found Leather", a little leather shop that she follows on Instagram .... it was kind of fun snooping around this old building .. the stairs were so old and the smell was amazing .... we found them, but they were closed ..

After the treasure hunt, we hit the beach .....

We met Daniel for tacos since he had finished his truck run for the day, and the evening just went by so fast!  I wish I had gotten a picture, he is a nice man .... he shared some of his sour cream with me for my taco because mine was too spicey ;-)   We hit up Fred Meyer after dinner, I got the boys a pair of nice shorts, Chris a shirt, and a pair of burgundy knock off birkenstocks.....super cute .....

Mike got up really early and had a beautiful breakfast laid out for me when I got up for 6:45am ... he even lined up all my condiment options and had fresh coffee ready .... he went out of his way to make me feel pretty spoiled .... I actually got a bit teary at one point because of how he lined up the jams ... nobody ever does that for me ....

The boy is growing too fast ...

And he has the stretch marks to prove it!

Favourite movie - Big Fish

Isaac and I are watching Big Fish ....again.

I love this movie.  It’s a movie about family and the perceptions we have about our loved ones.

My dad has always been the best story teller.  And this movie just reminds me of him and makes me happy.

I’ve always thought my dad was a big fish.

I want to be like my boss when I grow up ...

She walks into Tim Hortons, orders nothing, opens her bags for her files to discuss with me, kicks off her shoes and pulls her legs up on the bench and gets comfortable.  I just had to take a pic of the shoes cause they made me laugh - she’s so classy while still being so cool.

What Elliot’s been reading ....

Pretty cute how much this kid seems to like cats.

Weekend of sunshine and no plans ...

Not much scheduled thankfully for this weekend so we’ve all been happy to putter in the sun.
Doesn’t mittens make the yard look inviting!?

Elliot keeping me company for my morning coffee ...

Us this afternoon - Elliot eating lunch, Isaac whittling, and Chris is sanding down the boat trim. And I just sat down in the hammock to read.
