Jon asked me if I was willing to cook for Wildside this past week, so I said yes. I was really nervous about going at it alone since I don't normally cook for more than 4 people at a time. Knowing that Mike and Susan were coming at the end of August, I figured it may be a good opportunity for a dry run! Pretty excited she said yes to coming for the last part of the week! Jon and Mel were super flexible with my work schedule, Mel stepped in for the breakfasts and lunches for Monday and Tuesday, and with Susan arriving Tuesday afternoon, we both were on board by Tuesday night!

We had a lot of moments like this! Meals done, campers gone or involved in a game or program!

.....and like this ....

This is also pretty much how Susan slept this week -- roasting and head out the window as she slept.

Isaac and his friend Isaiah coming to visit Wildside on day last week .... they headed back to camp pretty quick once they realized it was hotdogs for lunch.

Jon roped us into being characters in their evening game one night .... we stationed ourselves with our feet in the water....still hot.

The group of girls we fell in love with ... turns out the girl in blue runners is Lily!! A girl we have known since she was a baby!! I didn't realize that it was her until her mom texted me and said thanks for feeding her so well all week!

Mugup was fun ....

We scrambled a few eggs that morning ... apparently it was supposed to be something called 'egg nesties' which is like a fried egg in the middle of toast? But being given creative liberties (which I must say was the best part of the week-because Jon feels about the food like I feel about WOA food: "I don't care what it is, just please feed us"-kind of attitude)....so we scrambled eggs and made fresh muffins!

This is Fern ... I had to get her a milk crate to stand on! She was the cutest girl ever ... I brought over my pineapple slicer to let the kids have a go at it ....

The first few days of the camp were a bit of a blur with work and schedules etc, so Susan and I just made the food ... but once we got the hang of it and there was a little more time, we would save things for the kids to do when they got sent in, in their groups, to help in the kitchen for meal prep. I have to say this was one of my favorite days .... lots of help in the kitchen, lots of laughs .... please note the watermelon bowls? They were nasty, so we carved out the yucky melon and made fun bowls for the pineapple! Ella, the girl on the left, came up to me after and told me that she had such a fun time in the kitchen .... so that was a kick. I have forgotten how much I love connecting with campers and this week reminded me of a former self.

Thankfully we had just taken a camp picture, and this beautiful girl chucked all over my new Wildside shirt ;-) She looks pretty please hey?

Always a pleasure to spend time with this woman .... such a good mom to her girls!! it was a kick to watch her support Jon through the week ... the two of them are such a powerhouse couple over there.

Oh yes, and genuine flame broiled burgers for the last lunch!!

COMPLETION!!!!!

Snagged this from the camp facebook site of our favorite girls .... what a great week. So glad we said yes.
