Tuesday March 24th

Isaac wanted us all to watch LALA Land .... none of us made it to the end.... some pretty songs in it though .... he’s learning some of the piano ....

I’ve been trying to run to the forestry gate every day .... this was a rainy run which was actually really nice.

My garden beds are mostly planted, except for the beans.

Our restless teenager .... access to many instruments which go between “aw, it’s so nice that he’s playing so much”, to “arg, when is he going to stop playing so much?”

He also hoverboards everywhere .... even to the mail with me this morning .... not a bad battery charge ....

This sweet boy came in around midnight last night.

And Dar started the day with me this morning by sending this pic of the start of her shift.  She says it’s earily quiet right now as they all prep for the onslaught ....

It’s been a longer day than usual today.   Not sure why. A little aimless I guess.....
Tonight isaac and I ran to the gate again.  Well, I did. He sprinted to the bridge then walked home.

Back to camp for a fire where we roasted marshmallows and the Chris and Isaac fixed his wood lathe.  So hopefully that will occupy him better tommorow!

Social distancing continues- weekend edition

This guy is playing all the instruments while hover boarding.

This guy is milling all the wood for the new merch building.

Thanks to Jolene and Raena, I got my garden beds ready today in the sunshine.

Selfie

Sunshine makes everything easier ...

Isaacs Saturday night movie choice.  Whew. That was one long movie but now I can say I’ve seen it.

Axe throwing Saturday night.  We had to decline a marshmallow roast with Zalinko’s because both kids can’t keep their distance from the Z kids.  We had to continue to remind them the few times they were around each other outside.  They just don’t get it yet how important keeping their distance is.

Sunday morning was gym class!  I made stations in the yard.  Here I am chasing Elliot to get his gym strip on. He’s trying to convince me that he can jump rope in flip flops and a onesie lol.

Social Distancing continues ...

Last night we all stayed up late watching Knives Out ... and we all really liked it, including Elliot ... but we started in late...and suddenly, everyone is hungry -- so we eat waffles and macaroni and cheese and wow -- is this what quarantine eating is like?  no carrot in sight last night lol.  So this morning everyone slept in (except Chris - he went to work)... but when he got up, we packed a lunch and headed for the West Coast.

Chris read about this suspension bridge on the way ... so we are just driving along, and suddenly he's like "I think this is the little road that goes to the bridge" (we are in the middle of nowhere!!)...and sure enough ... my GPS husband scores points for finding the coolest things while we are all out together ....

Before the camera took the picture, he must have had like 5 poses on his face before it snapped this one.
Stopped for lunch!  Made soup for Chris, cliff bar and hot chocolate for Elliot, rice cakes with meat and cheese for Isaac and I .... we were the only ones around .....

My swiss chard is still going strong ...
And in sanitizing news ... our new addition - thank you camp janitor closet
He has also taken up running .... I was just quietly working and he comes in and turns Simpsons on and starts running ...
And I will just leave this here ... because it made me laugh...

Corona Virus .... Social Distancing has begun...

I realize its only the beginning ... but the weather has been nice ... we have groceries and health and everyone is home and not traveling abroad .... we are remembering to take big breaths and try not to get too scared .... so in the sun we bike ....

We try out felting  .... (we attempted a mushroom)
We learned that needle pricks hurt like a bugger ..... that is why we put the gloves on the hand that isn't holding the needle lol

I love that Mittens just hangs out and watches ...
 On a chair ... or in a box ... whatever ....
 Tea ....
Noah and Isaac go metal detecting ....
And Elliot jumps on the trampoline .... but I think we have curbed this activity a little more now that Rachel is showing symptoms like coughing and a fever .... so here we go ... it is a little more real now.

From Mexico to No Mexico .....

This was not too long ago, when Chris and I were sitting in a room, listening to Phil talk about the upcoming Mexico trip the youth were going to go on during Spring Break.
I will admit, there was a quick moment that I got teary for a moment thinking of Isaac going off and doing this adventure on his own.... but he was so excited, so it passed .....
He's got some great friends and seems to be a real leader within the group.
 Elliot these days ....
He prefers to stay in his onesie ....
Isaac and I went for a run one morning last week ... he started too fast while I pace slower, and he got a stitch pretty early on..... but it was a beautiful morning ... we haven't run since ...
Here he is packing for the trip .....
And then .... he wasn't going .... Cases of the Corona virus were coming out all around the world, and suddenly a trip to Mexico didn't seem like the best idea .... they waited until Thursday night to cancel the trip (they were going to be leaving on Saturday!)   This was a bottle top he got from a soda - "Hide for a few days" ....
It wasn't a big deal ... and then suddenly it felt like a really big deal ....
So for now, we stay close to home ... and enjoy all the little antics ....

Weekend stuff ....

I wish I could find the other pictures I have taken over the years of Isaac getting weighed and measured by Katherine Wambera.  She was pleased with his progress that he has increased in height and weight and we haven't had to adjust the medication as his seizures have been under control ... he woke up one time in the past few weeks out of breath and panicky and assumes that was one ... but that was the only incidence....
On the way home, we were passing Pacific Christian school where alot of his camp friends go, so we pulled over, and my confident boy just hops out of the car and wanders into the school like he owns the place and starts asking around!  A few minutes later:
These are 2 of his favorites - Roane and Owen ... Roane needs a new sweatshirt, I don't think he has taken it off since camp.....
Elliot had a sore throat so he came with us, which meant he had to come to work with me afterwards for a few hours .... he was fine.
Saturday night parents had to go to New Life church to get the Notary to sign the papers that said the church has our permission to take our kid to Mexico ... he is so excited ... and his group is awesome AND there is a paramedic who is one of the main leaders ... so I am happy.
Here is Phil, going over all the logistics ... my favorite question of the night was Chris's:
"Ok, so, where exactly are these kids going?" lol
