Here were my little buckaneers for the last 3 days!
Each with amazing qualities and each who made me laugh almost every hour of our time together.
introducing Mack.....this pink bathing suit pretty much stayed wet the whole time she was here. Up for anything at anytime - Mack was a cuddly, sweet natured girl who absolutly stole my heart.
This is Aurora....she won me over on the first day when she joined me in opera-voice conversations together....oh man, she could make me laugh! Her most favorite song to sing me this week was that old popeye movie "he needs me" song......so funny {do you like the eye-patch?}Paisley was an easy going girl who got along with everyone and though her grandparents continued to come up to me through the weekend asking me {with worried, apologetic faces} "how is Paisley doing with you? Is she a handful?|....each time i would respond, "she is amazing...we are lucky to have her!" And i meant every word.
Yvonne.....oh Yvonne! Every cabin has a girl like this: so sweet, so keen....she was very taken with an empty birds nest on our pirate dinner night. She was so concerned about it and she wanted so bad to take it home......so she went back to the forest and found it again and packed it to go home!
Caitlyn......look at this girls eyes! Don't you just want to laugh alongside her at whatever she is joking about at that moment? Full of life and spirit, it was fun for me to watch her make new friends!!
Grace....a 20 year old trapped in an 8 year old!! This girl seemed older than her years....but once in awhile i would see the child in her and i would be reminded that she isn't an adult...she still needs love and acceptance, just like everyone else.
Hannah was my little sweet quiet one. But still waters run deep and I have a feeling that even though we really didn't get alot of time to spend together, and i didn't get to really know her as quickly as all the other girls because of her quietness....she will grow up to be a great and strong woman. I loved that she was in our cabin.
Avery fell in love with Jenn, the co-counselor the moment she got here. Oh, once in awhile, she would come running up to me and hold my hand to the next activity, but her heart belonged to Jenn. Funny thing about Avery was that she stockpiled ALL her tuck...that by the time she left, she had this huge grocery bag of treats, chips and chocolate that i know my sister would have tackled her for!!
Cassidy has these eyes that make you wonder what is going on behind them. On the last day of camp at fireside, as we all sang together outside, i looked over at her to see her eyes watering and welled up but she was smiling as she sang.....i was confused because her eyes looked sad but her mouth told me that she was fine. I kept looking over at her...unsure of what to do. But she was sitting next to her bff....so i hope she was ok.
Sabine.....the little 6 year old! The youngest girl in the camp...but with the biggest character. She was the boss!!! And she made NO excuses! One night she kept her hand up during the speakers time up front. Finally, the speaker stops and looks at Sabine and says 'do you have a question?'....Sabine says 'yes, i have a story about what you are talking about'...the speaker invited this little 6 year old up and Sabine took centre stage for almost 15 minutes telling all of us the most entertaining story of jonah and the whale 'veggietale-style'!!!
