My sweetie took the day off on Thursday so we could spend the day together since we both had to work yesturday. He has been working SO hard trying to get this silly boat to run properly!! So, with high hopes, we picked up subway, made sure we had all the safety equipment we needed and we dropped the boat into the ocean for its very FIRST salt water experience!! Chris joked that our boat got "A-salted"....get it? Assaulted!
The goal was Galiano because a few weeks ago, I told Chris that I would like to go there for our anniversary ... so he set a goal to get me there in our own boat!! So, we launched and had a bumpy ride to Salt Spring and over its north tip to get over to Galiano .... we parked at the government dock and started walking ..... but first the bathroom .... funny sign hey?

Galiano is a lovely little island ... we walked and explored for awhile and then headed back towards to boat to explore the caves that Chris had read about online .....

Not as spectacular as we were hoping, but still very cool caves in the sides of the land ....

He let me sit for a few minutes and enjoy the sun and the quiet before we launched off to keep exploring .....

I was amazed how clean it was inside these caves ....

The pictures don't give it enough scope, but these cliffs were absolutely huge! These were some of the birds .....

They build their nests inside little holes in the rocks ....

We came around the corner to find Montague harbor ....it looked like white sandy beaches but the white is actually crushed shells!

We saw the S.A.L.T's ship on the way to Salt Spring ... this was the ship that Mike took to Hawaii!

We stopped at Salt Spring for gas ... they totally ripped us off ... felt like getting fleeced in Florida ...

I saw this postcard and thought it was cute and totally Anniversary-like to represent our day on Salt Spring lol ..... this was the postcard next to till at the Gelato cafe ....

Time to enjoy gelato .....

Perusing through a bookstore ..... leisurely!!! It was lovely ....

Time to head back to the boat .... and head towards home ... the water was much calmer than when we first started the day .... we checked in with the kids and carried on towards Cowichan Bay ....

We got to Cowichan Bay and met Marg and Gordon for dinner at the Rock Cod Cafe ... it was confusing to find parking with nobody around ... so we just parked and went up to the restaurant .... his folks were waiting for us and we had a nice visit catching up.

Driving away from Cowichan Bay, we both felt really fortunate ...it had been such a perfect day. And to finish it off with a spontaneous dinner with his parents was such a gift. They spoil us so much .... we asked them to meet us for dinner and they bought dinner for us .... the sun was shining warm on us as we pulled away with full bellies and happy hearts .... remember this moment.

Driving past Camp Qwanoes ... this is the boat house - on the roof is where we had our very first kiss and where he asked me to marry him!! Such great memories! Days like today are such good reminders that despite any issues that arise, children who distract, jobs that get boring or frustrating, we would still choose eachother.
As we pulled the boat our of the water at the Crofton marina, there was a beautiful boat being pulled out by a couple of younger guys. Chris speculated "I bet that is a Qwanoes boat!"...and I was like "Naw!! Why do you think that?" and he responds with "Only they would be crazy enough to put such a beautiful boat like that into the ocean"....true enough...it was a Qwanoes boat.
