Was i just quading this morning???!!

It seems like ages ago that Amber and I hit the trails....but this afternoon was chill with the hockey game on at noon, then a little dance central with Emma who was up visiting and unknowingly found herself dancing moments after coming to my door....and then tonight it was dinner and Blokus with Julie {ruff/beveridge!!}.....and THEN a major bail by little Elliot as we ran home from fun at the camp.  We have been staying down later and later these days due to the sun staying out longer and longer!  So, the little guy was probably more tired than he let on, and his feet got away from him.  Unfortunatly, his head broke his fall:
While his brother enjoyed a little sonic comic before bed.....
It was a good day, but it was too bad it had to end with pain....poor little guy...
it was probably the worse fall i have ever seen either boy take.

Here he is the morning 'after'....poor guy looks brutal...he's happy enough, but crazy how beat up he looks.....

Quading Girls......

Quading good times with Amber......

Cold, Dark, Rainy Adventure!!

This picture was lifted from my dads blog...i want to make sure I remember this.

On the Saturday night of the womens retreat, it started to pour with rain.  We needed to get the boat out of the water so that it wouldn't flood overnight.  Chris grabbed the truck, so i needed to drive the boat from the boat dock all the way around to the canoe beach where the trailer was going to be.

I needed a partner in crime to help me with this mission.

I ran home to grab my dad.

Both of us armed with the hats from susan that have lights in the brim and we headed to the boat.

Picture it....pitch black, pouring with rain, no front lights on the boat....
It's pretty great having a dad who was up for a cold, dark and rainy adventure on the water!!!
I just wish I had gotten a picture of him too!!

Summer? Could that be you?!!

Finally!!  Hot and beautiful weather!!  Today we enjoyed a few summer things!!

Iced Tea!
The Hammock! {and a sweet afternoon nap in the hammock with the sun blaring on my face!}
Eating dinner outside down at the camp with the summer staff.....Spaghetti dinner!  Elliot played in the playground while I ate but when he was ready, he was so funny to look at with sauce on his forehead!!

This afternoon while Isaac was in school, Elliot and I put our helmets on and hit the road for our first quad ride of the season!
He is such great company!!  Half way through our ride, I noticed he was angled weird...sort of reaching down towards our feet?  I slowed down to see what he was reaching for....turned out the little turkey nabbed my cell phone from the side bags and was trying to play brickbreaker on my blackberry and dropped it and was trying to reach it {before i noticed??}
We live in the most amazing place.....especially now that summer is upon us.

Dance Party Night!!

After a night of gorging on chips and cookies...after the hockey game was over,
and realized nothing was on TV.....
we turned on the Kinect Dance Party....and had some fun.
If you don't take yourself too seriously and can swallow that you can look pretty dumb (and lets be honest, jazzercise has really warmed me up on THAT front! i mean, falling in slow motion onto a couple other dancers as you shimmy right but your feet wanted to get there before your body does!!!).....i could care less what I look like after THAT!!
Please note how confused i look!! Sheesh.....it was fun though...we laughed.
PS Mom: There is a Zumba one for X-box!!

The truth is....

that there have been a few people within the last 2 days, asking if I have "recovered" from such a crazy weekend - and the truth is that it really was the most amazing break!!!

The real work is cleaning, cooking, wiping, driving....repeat!

To come home and find my kids being well taken care of by my mom and dad while I got to play 'director' at the most rad retreat this camp has ever seen!! Was, by all accounts, AWESOME!!  This must be what Chris must feel like on a daily basis...and not gonna lie, i loved every minute!

I don't think I will be posting anything else about the retreat as its hard to put into words what all happened.....but on the friday night, we had flavored "menthos" in each wine glass.  While I was busy with the details of the retreat, my eldest was making the most of his time not being 'watched as closely' while down at the dining hall and ate as many of those candies as he could and this was the result 18 HOURS later!!  It's like he threw up Candyland!!  We had all never seen anything like it!!  Sorta pretty, isn't it???
Here he is in all his glory taking apart some garbage remotes.....
He had a little too much fun taking them all apart and smashing them to smithereens....
 ....while his brother looked on!

Womens Outdoor Adventure Camp 2011

It's hard to put into appropriate words what happened this weekend.
Perhaps I will just show you what the women did; they went shooting;

They Rapelled down the Mountain:
With the help of my handsome best friend......
Jon and Mel taught them Outdoor Cooking!
I would pick up the outdoor cookers and rapellers when their sessions were finished!
They went caving.....
 Even my sister went!!!!
....Chris lead the way!
They fished...
They did Falconry:
Here are 2 of my favorite ladies who did an amazing job this weekend:
Adorable right?
They learned how to use an Axe and Chainsaw!
 We relaxed:
And spent time with eachother:
And on our own.....
We also ate like Queens!
It's late and i really am unsure of what to write to really convey what this weekend really meant to me, other than incredibly special.  I got to meet some incredible women,  got to know our summer staff a little better and became even more impressed by them.  But I don't think that I can even put into words how special this weekend was,
i do have to say though that having my family up for the weekend was pretty cool.  To see them get involved at a camp that is such a big part of our life....really was a great gift to me.
My mom kept the kids at bay so that I had the freedom to be the best director that I could be without worrying about them.  Even my dad got super involved:
My dad taught a class, took a class, raced through the water in the ski boat with me in the middle of the night in the pouring rain to get it out of the water, he even watched Isaac throw up the rainbow candies from his huge gorge the night before {blog pics to come on that one later, never seen anything like it--flavored menthos don't really break down!}.
....It really was one of the most incredible weekends and I am feeling pretty thankful to have been part of it!  It reminded me of what I love about camp and that maybe it is time to get involved again.
