Day 6 - Santa Monica and Studio City

Disneyland's newest part time employee woke up to a nice breakfast to start her first day of orientation at the park!!  Jackie arrived Thursday night to stay over with us so she would be close to the park for her 7:30am start!  She arrived just in time to join us for the Disney fireworks on the roof of the resort.....it was great timing.  We stayed up too late chatting and drinking wine ... it was so nice to see her face .... the boys slept on the pull out couch, and she stayed in the 2nd bedroom.
Here she is racing out the door .... she is always moving .... never sits still .... she had applied to be a casual holiday worker but they hired her as a part time worker ... so she will get all the benefits that a casual would not -- so that was exciting for her.  Her whole family loves Disneyland, so there will be alot of perks for them!  It was such a kick to see her official badge say her name!  Apparently Mickey Mouse came in and gave out their badges at the orientation!

We left for the park around 8:30, and were surprised at the amount of people heading to the park!  The throngs!!!  It hadn't been like this during the week ... this was friday!  We took one look at security (not even at the gate entrance yet!!) .... and turned around and left.

We all felt a bit relieved to walk away I think ... we are all so tired from the week (20k a day of walking average) .... turned out I would get major cramps around noon, so being in the park with them would have been hell .... I was also nursing my first bout of shin splints (they suck!) .... so, we carried on up to the Santa Monica Pier for the day on our way up to Studio City. We had never seen it, and it's been in so many fun movies!!!

On our way back to the car, Delta was giving away snacks and flight credits .... we won snacks .... no credits.... but it was fun.
We got to the Inches and everybody is gone!!  For 20 years we have been coming here (since our honeymoon back in 1998!) -- and it's the first time we arrived to an empty house.  Kids are all at college, big Kevin is in Flagstaff hanging with his boys at their university (little Kevin came 2nd place for a short film he directed and produced-after the awards were handed out, big Kevin went out afterwards and bought champagne to celebrate!! He was so proud!! Even Betty drove up to Flagstaff to be there for the award for her brother ....)...and Jackie was still at Disney. So, after the long drive from Santa Monica, Chris and I both crawled into bed and slept for hours!!  Isaac snapped these:
They have the best sectional where everyone lays on to watch movies .... it's awesome.
Jackie loves tucking the boys in:
Even Daisy, their new senior dog they are taking care of in her elder years, gets tucked in.  She's a beautiful mastiff who is so old but just loves everyone. Very sweet.
