Enjoyed a coffee on the beach chatting over messenger with Trent. He was making dinner as I was having morning coffee. This woman has a lovely life from the looks of it. Coffees and smoothies for tourists and locals as her kids run around the little shock and her husband by her side. They had breakfast while serving coffees. Very cheerful couple.
Time for 8am breakfast and then scooter rental! We rented scooters and headed to the closet cave. Here is Isaac going into the depths first ....
It's a very civilized way to cave. Upright almost the whole time, ladders and bridges and arrows to show the direction through the whole time.
We've honestly never seen anything like it. It was just us in at. At one point, we turned our headlamps off and just sat there in the darkness.
The pictures don't do it justice. There were times where we were walking along ledges, and big pitfalls where a ladde was placed over top for you to walk along. At one point, I was looking very closely at a stalagmite that was hanging down with a brown piece at the end. And being quite dark, I leaned forward and my stupid brain didn't kick in quick enough to say 'that's a bat!!!' Until it opened its eyes- face to face with me, and flew away. Up to the ceiling where it joined all its brothers and sisters!!! Isaac didn't like the cave crickets ..me? And Elliot? We had issues with the bats. But the rooms were so massiv that they had a lot of room to fly far above our heads. I was so proud of these little adventurers ... There were some really scary parts to this morning - we held onto each other hard during scary parts (that included drop offs and swooping bats)....but no matter how scared Elliot got, he would just breath deep, squeeze my hand, and kept stepping forward. No complaining. It was a long trek down the mountain and I was thankful for these ropes and arrows.
This is a funny pictures because this is the view upon getting out of the cave and here you see Elliot being the first one out and hustling down the mountain!! Outta there!!
