Mom and dad gave us some money for a Christmas experience so we purchased "cooking from home" Thai cooking class. Pom is a lovely Thai woman originally from Bangkok as moved all over Thailand with her father who was a lawyer when she was a child. Lawyers are based all over the place and are transferred every few years, so Pom saw a lot of Thailand and experienced a year or two in every province. When she was able to chose where she would settle, she chose Chiang Mai. She loves the mountains.
She picked us up at 8:45 on Tuesday morning and took us to the market. Here she is explaining how coconut milk is made.
The difference between the difference and the far orange one is tumeric.

These beauties are called 1000 year old eggs. They are painted to keep all the eggs in tact as they've been sitting out in the sun and cooked (and rotting) for weeks, turning the egg black inside.

Dumplings.
